The museum follows an itinerary divided into six thematic-chronological areas ranging from the Napoleonic presence in Faenza, to the heroes of National Unity, to World War I, with a privileged view aimed at local events and protagonists.<\/p>\n
At the end of the nineteenth century, two major exhibitions highlighted the patriotic enthusiasm of Italians related to the Risorgimento period: the National Risorgimento Exhibition in Turin in 1884 and the Exhibition of the Provinces of Emilia in Bologna in 1888, in which a number of documents from Faenza were exhibited. However, Faenza would have to wait until the Ravenna Exposition to have its first public collection of documents and objects related to the Risorgimento.
\nAt first, the exhibition takes shape in the Sun Room, now the Red Room of City Hall.
\nIt was later moved to a room in the Municipal Art Gallery, with some new donations from private individuals. In 1915, at the behest of intellectual Achille Calzi, documents and artifacts from the Great War that had just begun were also added to the collection, which would not be displayed until 1921. Since 2009, the museum has been housed on the main floor of Palazzo Laderchi, whose gallery and Salone delle Feste were frescoed by Felice Giani.
