Rust printing
Learn the typical process for decorating fabrics
Inside his artisan workshop, Egidio Miserocchi makes hand-printed fabrics following the techniques of the typical Romagna tradition. The images are reproduced through the use of wooden matrices inlaid with traditional depictions that he creates and preserves.
An object that is not lacking in any Romagna house, typical of craftsmanship and peasant creativity, the colors of the Romagna prints are obtained from rust while the fabric was woven directly at home. The period to which they date back is uncertain but it can be assumed that this art is widespread already during the presence in the Papal States, of which Romagna was part until the Unification of Italy, since the seventeenth century.
